Introduction:

In 1961, singer and pop icon Elvis Presley released Blue Hawaii, a soundtrack album to the film of the same name. This soundtrack differed from some of Presley’s previous film soundtracks, which often included a mix of new recordings and older hits. Blue Hawaii featured mostly new material, with a blend of Hawaiian influences and Presley’s signature pop sound. The album was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard Top LPs chart.

One of the standout tracks on the album was No More, a melancholic ballad that showcased Presley’s powerful vocals and his ability to deliver a song with emotional depth. The song’s lyrics tell the story of a man lamenting the loss of a love. He reminisces about the happy moments they shared and pleads for her return. Don Robertson wrote No More, and Ku Lei Lee produced it.

No More was a hit single as well, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961. It further solidified Presley’s status as a global music icon. The song remains popular today and has been covered by many artists over the years. You can find numerous versions of No More available online, including the original recording by Presley YouTube.

Blue Hawaii was not Presley’s last foray into film soundtracks, but it marked a turning point. The success of the album, and particularly No More, demonstrated that Presley could deliver not just energetic hits, but also emotionally resonant ballads. This would pave the way for his future recordings and solidify his place as a versatile performer.

Lyrics:

No more, do I see the starlight caress your hairNo more, feel the tender kisses we used to shareI close my eyes, and clearly my heart remembersA thousand goodbyes could never put out the embers
Darling, I love you so, and my heart foreverWill belong to the memory of the love that we knew beforePlease come back to my arms, we belong togetherCome to me, let’s be sweethearts again, and then let us part no more
No more, do I feel the touch of your hand on mineNo more, feel the lovelight making your blackened dark eyes shineOoh, wait a minute
Is this the key I did this song in?
Okay (if you can’t do a cover bring the key in)Daizy aren’t his, how ’bout him?Okay, that’s right
